Personal Project – Princess Shoot

UPDATE: Re-edited some of the pictures. Updated the gallery accordingly.

Finally have the galleries up for everyone to see. After the initial post about the shoot on March 29th (here), I found out that I lost more than expected. Total amount of equipment lost or damaged is up to ~$220. Quite a costly shoot. While processing the pictures, I found another problem. The lens I was using for the majority of the shots was suffering from strong back focusing (or front I don’t remember). Had to throw out a good number of the pictures because of this. Fortunately, the group pictures were shot at small apertures. They were all slightly soft though. Needless to say, this shoot was full of problems from the very start. Nothing went according to plan and it seems the photo gods were out to get me that day. Oh well, definitely not my best work. Mediocre at best. I did learn a lot from this shoot though and got a burst of ideas afterward for other shoots.

Without further delay, here are the galleries:

Random Shots – 4/19/10

It’s been awhile since I updated. Been working on school work and started to process the pictures from the Princess shoot. I’ll have those done by the end of the week. It’s turning out to be a bigger bitch than first imagined but I’m getting on it. I promised an article awhile back but I decided not to write it up. I don’t feel I have sufficient knowledge on the topic. Instead, I’ve changed the topic to something I feel more comfortable with. That will come by the end of the week as well. Assuming I don’t slack off which as everyone knows will most definitely happen :p

On a different note, I’ve really been enjoying the B&N Nook. Already read well over 1000 pages. Read the book Deception Point by Dan Brown on it from beginning to end without any complaints. Finished the first two books in Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Collection. Don’t have a single complaint about the E-Ink display. Battery life is great, its form factor is perfect, and the features are as close to complete as you’ll expect. Loving it.

Now for some pictures:

Testing a New Lens

Yesterday, I went to Canon to pick up my lens (it needed calibration). While waiting for the rep to retrieve my lens, the rep and someone else came out to greet me. He introduced himself and asked me a few questions which I found odd (“How long have you been a CPS member, etc). He asked if I shot weddings and as you all know I have a passion for wedding photography. He then asked in a hushed voice if I would be interested in a new lens that Canon was developing specifically for wedding photographers! Of course I said HELL YEAH! He told me to go meet him at the security doors near the broadcast equipment is dropped off for repair. I can’t go into much after what happened, they made me sign a NDA. But I could give everyone here a preview… though it’s not much. Much of the information is stripped out so you’ll just have to stare at it and wonder ;)

Secret Lens ;)
